I hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July! I had a great time hanging out with friends. I'm so glad the weather was nice enough to sit by the pool!
As we put together our spreadsheets for the end of June, it was nice to see that we're making some more progress on savings. Up until now, we've transferred a little here and a little there to our respective savings accounts, but this month I actually tracked that amount on our spreadsheet. Now that we have a baseline for adding to savings, we'll work to meet or exceed that amount each month as we continue to build up that savings bucket. Jim and I are dead set on a trip at the end of the year. We've been talking about it for a few years and decided before we started the makeover that we were going to take it for our anniversary this summer. Well, with Jim being gone and wanting to do the best we can during the makeover, the trip has been put on hold. But it has become one of our biggest motivators right now to keep up with the savings and monitoring our spending. I can also say pretty confidently that had we not made it into this competition, we would have put our trip on a credit card and it would have taken us awhile to pay it off. Now, we're not taking the trip unless we have every penny up front.
Everything with my dance school is going great! I have awesome students who are all motivated and enthusiastic! I'm so proud of their progress, and we're only at the beginning of the session. I'm also starting to think about goals for the fall and looking for ways to continue to grow and challenge myself as a teacher and as a business owner. |
